What Kinds of carbs should I be and be not eating when cutting? I just read that I should be avoiding all breads while cutting... and whole wheat bread is a staple of my diet... I've read that that Oats are what I should be eating... does that mean like the stuff horses eat?

Oatmeal is a great carb man.Sweet potatoes are good.Brown rice abd whole wheat pasta are all good carbs but you need to limit yourself while cutting.
Depends on if youre cutting for the hell of it or like a show or something.

"Oats" is just oatmeal that's sold plain, without any flavors or packets or anything. There are different degrees of wholeness to them, ranging from the instant kind where you just add boiling water, to the kind you have to boil for a long while like pasta. The kind i eat has to be boiled for 5 minutes, though i hear some kinds (i think steel cut oats) have to be boiled for like 20 minutes! They're all the same plant, and horses do eat them, it just depends on how much preparation you wanna put into it.

Adding to ZacK's above comment, if your looking for Whole Wheat bread. The first ingredient should say Whole Wheat.. If it's one of the first 3 ingredients your ok. If it's the last,, don't bother with it.

I try to avoid the whole wheat breads because you never know what you are getting unless you make it yourself. If you ever watched raising the bar the documentary about bodybuilding he has a list of 7 foods that work. Oats, egg whites, tuna, chicken breast, sweet potatos, brown rice, and bananas. Now thats for him i think that is a great starting point. Don't forget it all depends on your body. How your body reacts to certain foods. i know people who can eat steak all day and be in contest shape. i also know people what they do a certain number of weeks out they will only eat fish brown rice and broccoli. it all depends on you. Some people have the bread and see great results some dont. i have tried the ezeikil bread that jay cutler uses and that stuff is great, expensive but worth it.

Another thing to avoid when cutting is glutton. Try eatting glutton free products because glutton helps hold estrogen and when you are cutting you want to keep testosterone levels high and estrogen levels low to keep as much muscle as possible.

I think omitting wheat gluten should depend on how you react to it. Certain people are semi-allergic to it; they hold water, feel mentally sluggish, etc. Others have no problem with it.

When it comes to wheat bread, and other wheat products, the carb:fiber ratio is key. Look for a carb to fiber ratio of no greater than 6-7:1. This means if a slice of wheat bread has 14 grams of carbs, it better have at least 2 grams of fiber. Good, organic wheat breads generally have 15 grams of cabs and 3-4 grams of fiber.

honestly, i would stay away from whole wheat pasta. i did it on my last cut and it didn't work that great. too starchy, carbs and calories just add up too fast and if you're trying to stay within your macros, i'll leave you hungry because they are so carb dense (if that makes sense)

on my next cut, i will be eating oatmeal and whole grain brown rice mainly for carbs i think.
