Could you clarify this right here... because from my understanding and reading, hormone levels are actually increased during weight training... the only hormone you would really want to reduce is cortisol.
QuackAttack, skip the bread and go for the oats like the others said. Depending on what/when your next meal would be you might want to consider the egg whites instead of the shake, if you want use a 4:1 ratio of whites to whole eggs. Avoid combining simple carbs with fats whenever possible because insulin promotes fat storage, and decreases the use of it for energy.
As for the shake are you drinking it PWO out of habit if so, just try drinking like half of it during your workout and finish it PWO, but if your not drinking it because you get sick or stomach problems, try ~20gs of Leucine with Crystal lite during your workout and keep your normal shake PWO.
