cutting for ectomorphs

hey guys,

just had a quick question. well im sure most of you know ectomorphs lose weight much faster than the average bear.

so where does that leave us ectomorphs when it comes to cutting???

im just hitting the 160 mark and im gonna start cutting in a few weeks so im wondering if there's any strategies you ectomorphs out there use for cutting...because its really easy for me to lose weight lol.

seriously, if i miss out on like 300 calories in one day ill lose a pound rofl.

well if you guys have any advice id be one very happy camper






p.s : thanks for the dudes responding to my dips thread. ive been doing dips since HOLY SH*T totally tears my chest up lol i think im in love

I really wouldn't see much of a difference except when cutting for a show. You would do it in less time because of how fast ur metabolism is and how you could definitely cut the weight much faster. Other than that, I see no issues being different.

i dunno i guess i just figured id lose a lot more muscle mass since id be losing weight faster

nah man we won't lose muscle mass, only the water/extra fat and whatnot surrounding it. We'll only lose muscle mass when we stop working out lol

p.s. im in the exact same boat as you, im cutting in a few weeks and im an ectomorph. But before i cut im gunna post some pics

I'm also ecto. I'm a hard gainer for sure. I'm hovering around 245 right now and I havent cut since I started lifting seriously 2 1/2 yrs ago. I started around 155-160lbs @ 6' tall. Now i'm 245 and 12% bf (just got it checked), and I eat like a horse and just do cardio a couple times a week.

If you are in the same boat, just check your diet if you want to cut. Serious ectos really only need to check their diet and maybe add an hour of cardio every week.

Also, How tall are you? And whats an estimate of BF %? That could help us out a little.

Because if you are 6'-160lbs-8% bf and want to cut... we've got a problem.

hey dudes,

sorry for some reason my other computer wasnt let me leave messages

my ecto stats:

5'7"
160.5lbs
20% bf (i just guessed ;D)

i was around 8-10% bf when i first started but im pretty husky now


im lookin' to get down to around 12-15% depending on how i feel/look

im kinda just tired of being fat... cant wait til cutting season


so how many lbs. do you guys try to cut in a week??

i heard 1-2 is a good number but im scared i might lose too much too fast..

any input would be grand

1 to 2 is the healthiest. go for that

also, try HIIT training. This keeps as much muscle as possible and burns the most fat.

keeps as much muscle? why would u lose any at all? lean muscle that is, i can understand cutting all around the muscle, but why would anyone lose lean muscle while cutting? it doesnt make sense to me... because the only way you lose muscle is when its not being worked, so like when you take a month or more off... but during cutting ur still working it, yeah with lighter weight, but to failure. So how would you lose muscle?
