I am the ONLY one in the gym that ever has a bottle of water, in my case, my blender full of water and uses it during workouts. Everyone else, both in college gym and back home at YMCA [spring break comes this Friday, gonna re-register for it, have some fun there] just takes a sip from the bubbler. If I get thirsty, or even before then just to keep hydrated in general, it's right there beside me, I just bend over and take a drink.

Anyways, I keep hearing people say to only sip and not gulp. What does it freaking matter? And I would think you should be not sipping unless you're doing it a lot to keep hydrated. I try to consume 1 gallon of water per workout, usually a bit less for cardio [but I bet I sweat a pint], re-filling my blender 3 or 4 times.

I gulp, no time to sip. I get alot of water in, mostly because I just get thirsty while working out.

theres no need to drink a gallon of water during a workout. Why would you do that? Most people only need a gallon a day.
You carry your blender to the gym.I always have a water bottle but a blender?
You were right about sipping I dont know why they would say that. They do say to sip on contest day to keep from getting bloated

Agreed a gallon is way to much! Susan Kliener PHD and RD who wrote Power Eating says that you need 8-10 ounces of water per 15 minutes of working out. So yes you can carry a gallon but don't drink anywhere near the whole thing.

Huh!

Well I take in a gallon to keep my piss clear, that's the other reason, I don't want my kidneys to be doing overtime to process all my whey and creatine and other stuffs.

And it's not a blender blender, it's my blender shaker with the metal straining ball inside, that's what I meant.

the only way your kidneys could be affected at all is if you were taking in 2 or more grams of protein per lb of body weight.

ok, the part that made me laugh is you bring your blender to the gym.

sorry i just thought that was funny.

i try not to get full from the water durin my workout so i only take small sips in between sets. toward the end of my workout, i start drinking a shit load.

i only consume about a liter of water during a leg or back day.

To keep your piss clear you only need about a gallon a day not a gallon a workout.

I drink about a gallon and a half a day and the bulk of my water and consumption comes from mostly with my meals. i try to drink 24 oz of water or crystal light with each meal and between meals ill sip on water to curb cravings. while i workout i have 32 oz water bottle with me and try to drink one and a half of them throughout it. water is the most important part of training keeps your joints and muscles hydrated as well curbs cravings from eatting
