I can't really cook. Cooking various pieces of dead animals on my Hamilton Beach is about the limit (OK, I haven't really tried to learn).

A couple things I've found recently...

Foster Farms makes turkey Italian sausage. Tastes pretty good. 130 cals, 14g protein per link. I like to dunk it in a hot sweet mustard, which is also low-cal.

Oskar Meyer makes "center cut" bacon. Instead of 90 cals for 2 slices, it's only 50 cals. I can't really tell the difference. Having 12 slices of bacon for only 300 cals is nice.

I made some chicken breasts using the Shake 'n Bake box directions. Not the highlight of my culinary life but reasonable and idiot-cooking-proof.

And I'm still loving IDS's New Whey Liquid Protein. 42g, 176 cals, and it's only 3 oz - yeah, it's like doing a shot! The grape is pretty good. They also make a 20g protein version that is correspondingly lower in cals. Too bad they're so freakin' expensive (~$3 each). But good for protein on the run. I love taking them to lunch, or downing one after a workout.

Cooking looks hard but it actually isn't. I'm not even that good at cooking, but steaks are about the easiest thing to cook. Get steaks, they are easy to cook.

Get steak, anything without a bone if you want. Put some salt and pepper on it, get a pan, pour some olive oil on the pan or whatever oil you prefer. Medium high heat, sear both sides for 2-3 minutes to get the char on both side, lower heat to medium, cook through depending on stove top to desired doneness. For me I cook about 15 minutes each side sometimes up to 20 for a really well done steak.

If you cover the pan it may draw out water from the meat, making it harder to chew and smaller in size. Cut against the grain, makes it easier to chew. Thats all there is to a steak at its basics.
