I have done low carb before and this never hapened. So I have been on a ketosis based diet for the past 5 weeks. I started at 216 and over that time i brought my body down to 202. Well i am on my week off right now since it spring break and my birthday, and after 4 days my body is back at 214 (very frustrating considering limiting my body to 20 grams a carbs a day for 40 days). What happened to my body.... this cant all be water weight? If i gained all my weight back from low carb, should i try low calorie to see if it keeps the weight off better? PLEASE HELP.... VERY PISSED OFF RIGHT NOW

Are you controlling your calorie intake? Whats your intake on ketosis and off of ketosis?

And yes, you can gain alot of water weight back. On my last carb load I gained 8 pounds back in 2 days. Maybe you were eating too much while on ketosis and didn't lose the weight you expected.

It's also probably safe to say that with your diet coming off of ketosis that you have probably super compensated glycogen (the energy form that carb is stored in the muscle and liver), so there is the posibility that your holding onto some -extra- water weight, you might also have taken in more salt than usual, or weighed yourself before urinating or a bowel movement. Wait a few more days until your body stabilizes and weigh yourself, continue training as normal. If your still 214 on average then that means you ate too much during ketosis and didn't lose enough weight.

If you kept calories low enough over 5 weeks, 5 pounds is an easy loss. And remember, low carb doesn't mean you can eat the same amount of food and lose weight. It means your brain is just using less glucose to support itself, you still have to lower calories to lose the weight.
