i think it has to do with the speed your brain gets the message 'your full' not just a gain insulin rush which wont make you feel full, proabably just more energized which might actully make you eat faster..lol just speculating here and like i said before when you chew your food and its the saliva thing, your stomach can more efficiently digest the food and get the 'im full stop eating message'...? mabey lol. i mean really just chew normally, eat healthy food...its not rocket science. ya there is lots of speculation on keotis but from what i read its not bad for you body to be in this state for short peiords of time and does benifit some people. i love it when people find a book and think its the bible. science is always disproving things. i believe less then half of what i read. not becuase i think there wrong just we dont know so much about the human body. i mean dont get me wrong its amazing what we have learned so far..almost uncomrehenable... wow im talkin shit now lol gotta stop coming here after a few beers.

I understand that eating slowly helps your brain get the message that your stomach's full, but for some people that message seems to be completely cut off no matter how long or how much they eat. Or maybe their stomach is stretched huge from eating binges. Whatever it is, something is wrong with the way they're eating, and it's probably more complicated than their chewing habits.

Not arguing the benefits of saliva, hell, chewing's great, we're all supposed to be chewing 20+ times anyway. I just think it sounds really half-assed as weight loss diets go. It's one method of portion control, yes, but i wouldn't call it a diet. Stuff like counting calories or nutrients would be much more useful.

It'll work for short term gains, but in the long run there's no real feasable way that it could work. It's more of a fad diet in the making.
