I just had 4 cookies (medium-sized) at the office after being strict to the T so far this week on the diet. Honestly how bad will this affect today's dieting progress, or should I just do another 5 to 10 mins of cardio?

A cheat meal every few days or a cheat snack every other day isnt bad at all. Some people even have cheat days and maintain a great looking body.

I would actually suggest a cheat meal or snack to be honest. That is why life is worth living imo, for the rewards and the spoils of our hard work.

I keep a bag of doritos, and if i had a really good day of eating, i eat 2-3 chips.

The rewards for not cheating are not worrying about overcheating and not worrying about any extra dieting.

What this is getting at is people's inability to remain within a limit. Portion control is not practiced by very many people, which i think is a shame. If i want a piece of cake, ill eat a piece of cake and it wont kill my diet because one bite is enough for me to satisfy that craving.

People that dont cheat because they worry about not being able to control it have a lack of self-control imo. And its not something to be ashamed of really. Lots of people have it, thus why over 50 percent of americans are obese.

I don't really think over 50 percent of Americans are over weight! I'm in a computer lab right now and I don't see 1 out of every 2 people being over weight :P

As for not cheating, I guess it depends. I don't cheat on my diets because I have everything planned out during the day. Being out of my house 6 hours a day I have those 2-3 meals on me to eat. Some people also have a tendancy towards liking different flavors, for a lot of people it's sweet, for someone like me I like salty, so for me to eat a piece of chicken with some pan roasted garlic and salt on it, thats what I can equate to a reward for me.

And, that could be equated to a cheat meal or snack for some. Yet, you dont pour salt on everything, thus you are showing self control.

A cheat meal doesnt have to be a horrendous meal. It could just be going out to eat and getting the best thing on the menu of where you're at.

Eating 2-3 doritos is not going to significantly effect my body composition or my diet for a day.

Yeah I know. I just know a too few many guys that have a little cheat meal that turns into cheat day, and progressivly evolves into taking a week off to cheat. It's a vicious cycle.

I always think that both extremes are bad. If you don't care about your diet is bad but overcaring about your diet and not be flexible (always in mind of control) is even worse cause then you forget that taste was made to taste. Of course Always understanding that if you cheat one day in the week try to hold the rest of the week.
