I've started recently working out and eating more and more often is really hard for me to do, are there certain foods that will give you the carbs, protein and calories you need without making you too full to eat when next meal time comes around?

I've mostly been eating a lot of brown rice and tuna, but sometimes I am just too full to eat right again 3 hours later, any suggestions?

What is your calorie/meal split.

Since brown rice has high fiber it will give you the full sensation. I dont think tuna would make you that full, its really calorie dense.

If you're on a bulk, that's pretty normal. You're gonna be eating a lot of food and it'll be hard at first to go from meal to meal. The overall idea also is that your stomach will expand and it should be easier over time for you to eat more and more as time progresses and your body gets used to it. After a while you'll be eating the same amount and then get hungry even before 3 hours.

I'll have a cup of oat meal and a couple slices of toast and maybe 3 hard boiled eggs for breakfast, then some rice and a can of tuna next meal, maybe a chicken salad with some chips and salsa for lunch, then another rice/tuna meal, and for dinner I just have whatever the lady makes which is usually pretty balanced, then I have a good size snack before bed, like 20 pizza rolls hehe I know not the best but damn it is good.

For drinks I am big on milk and water, I usually have some oj if I drink something else.

I know it's not the main thing, but also keep in mind, a few weeks ago I was 163, hardly ate anything besides chips and salsa lol and hadn't touched a weight in years, so I weighed in at 181 this morning after I took a leak no food, nothing, just my natural early morning weight so I think I am on the right track, I've put on some body fat but I don't have a belly or anything.

Do you think it would be bad to maybe drink more water at one time and try to stretch my stomach a little? I know eating competition guys will down 1 gallon straight to do this, I am not doing that, but maybe adding more water with my meal will fill my stomach but not fill me the same as a ton of food, the cup of rice and can of tuna is like 30 something grams of protein and 700 something calories, is 700 calories too much for one meal?

I'm 5'9, 181lbs, just a beginner bodybuilding, what should my ideal calorie intake be?

Tuna is great whenever, but is not calorie dense at all. Try adding it to wheat bread and low fat mayo and some cheese for extra calories. Baked chips and fruit make that a good meal. Rice is awesome for carbs, keep the white for post workout and brown for the rest of the day (cylce with wheat pasta for some variety and a nice fiber kick) Red meat is the king for bulking up. Your PWO meal (after your shake if you have one) should include some red meat 8-10 oz maybe with a baked potato or some rice and veggies. Sugar free liquids (crystal light/wylers light) is a good way to up your liquid intake with some flavor. Natural peanut butter is another staple in my bulking diet. 700 calories is not too much in one meal, calories are important, but also check the macro nutrient breakdown of your foods (protein/carbs/fat) and make sure your hitting the numbers you need. As far as a guy your size, im guessing a ballpark figure would be around 4k calories for adding some good size, drop down 500 cals if your putting on too muc fat. Don't forget a good multi vitamin, whey protein powder and fish oils.

Wow 4,000 calories a day, I don't each any where near than but I keep adding weight and size pretty fast. I'll look at what I eat and try to add it up for a day, but I doubt I am any where near to 4,000, holy crap that sounds like a lot of food, I feel sick already lol.

You would be suprised. I take in over 3000 usually and that is only with about 4 meals and two weight gainer shakes. Like I said, monitor your muscle and fat gains, and also your strength and how you feel. Extra cals always help get me through lifting plateaus. The key is consistancy, say you are gaining 1-2 pounds a week on 3500 cals, but then only 1/2 pound the following weeks. Up your calories roughly 500-700 and see how your body reacts.

some days, i can get up to as high as 5000
but you gotta sleep no more than 8 hours to do this or you won't even have time to get all those meals in.

to keep your body in anabolic state 24/7, you shouldn't ever feel hungry. everytime you eat, you shouldn't feel hungry. unless it's before a workout. that's the only time in the day when you should feel hungry is before a workout.

I agree man. Especially for hardgainers. I could eat the biggest meal ever then a couple hours later I'm craving more food!! Ibanez, how is the contest prep coming along?
