One of my girlfriend's coworkers is eating this to lose weight, it states it has a decent amount of protein as well. Im not a nutrionalist but I know some of you are. Is this a good way to replace rice as well as get your fill of protein?

hey man just pulled this off of some nutritional website (Quinoa - Nutritional Information - eLook.org)

quinoa could be a possible replacement for rice, IMO.
we have a sh*t load of it in our house because im bolivian, and bolivians are like the 2nd highest producer of this crap. so im pretty much cursed with it.

id say give it a shot, see if it works for you.

the only bad thing i could honestly say about quinoa is that it doesnt go down as easy as rice does.....but its not horrible tasting either.

its got some pretty good numbers, lots of protein and calories
(which is what im going for ;D)

im not sure if it will be difficult for you to get your hands on quinoa (depends where you live) but anyways, if you can id say give it a shot man!

G.L.H.F

(good luck have fun )

its really good. only problem is that its kinda exspensive (at least were im from) good recipe. saute and 1/2 onion chopped fine add 2 tsp. turmeric, 2 tsp. cumin pinch corriander. Rince quinoa. Add to pot stir around for a min. 2 cups. Add equal amount water or a little less. Cook for 25min. Stir in 3/4 c. frozen peas. Serve with chicken breast. May need to add more seasoning. Also can use in any recipe inplcae of coucous. Makes a good cold salad for on the go with peppers and things.

Yep this stuff is great. It's usually found in the health or organic section.

It is a complete protein, complex carb, high fiber, low sodium, low to no sugar.

Also check out bulgar- its got virtually the same stats but just tastes better imo.
