Maybe your diet is as stale as your routine.

Let me preface:
No matter how hard you train, if you stick with the same routine, you'll hit a plateau, and hard. We all know this, so everyone who knows anything about weight lifting keeps a lively routine to change lifts, reps, sets, etc... so that the gains keep coming.

Now this is a theory of mine, feel free to comment as needed (I know you will). But what if your body starts to get used to the same foods? Sure when you're getting food together, if you find a good meal that fits perfectly into your required protein/carb/fat intake, you're going to eat it more. Feeling lazy preparing food? Just whip up the same easy thing that you usually do. Well in life, I find that everything is cyclic. If your static training would stop you from progressing, why wouldn't a static nutrition?

I know for a fact that people have food allergies that they don't even know about. Some people can have a poultry allergy, and they won't fully benefit from it as easily as others. Sometimes these allergies can be gotten over by laying off that certain type of food for weeks, maybe months. This is something I've noticed in myself, and I wonder if anyone feels the same. I had been resorting to the same lunches for the last week or so, because it was quick and easy. Grilled chicken sandwich, granola bar, and some fruit. I think my body is totally getting sick of chicken. Indigestion, uncomfortable stomach, you name it. The last couple days I haven't had any chicken, and I'm feeling better already. I switched to fish and egg proteins, and my digestive system is much more pleasant.

Thoughts, comments? Links to articles who already believe this?

It is recommended to eat a range of different foods to get a range of different nutrients. To say your body gets used to your diet and that make your progress plateau makes no sense to me. If your body was used to the food surely you would digest it better.

Well I don't know, like I said it was just something I was pondering. I can only go with my personal experiences on this one.

I shared my diet awhile back, and during contest prep nothing changes, even in my gaining cycle, and i still never plateau, also look at big ronnie colmans diet, nothing changes ever, until cutting phase and it is not a big difference, just got to find what works for you

There is an old natural bodybuilder, Vince Gironda, also know as the "Iron Guru", has an interesting position on busting through plateaus.

Vince believes that bodybuilding is 80% diet. He tells bodybuilders who do not wish to use steroids how to bust a plateau: Eat up to 3 dozen eggs daily. He says that he usually suggests up 1-2 dozen but one can go up to 3. He also says that this definitely should not be a lifetime diet but a temporary 3 week type deal. He claims it will bust your muscles to a new level.

Weird? Yes. But it goes to show that other people believe that you can shock your body into new growth by introducing a shocking diet.

btw: dont yell at me.. Ive never eaten 3 dozen eggs in a day.. Im just passing on some info
