I was "diagnosed" with Irritable Bowel Syndrome about 3 years ago and have been struggling with it ever sense. Haven't really found any medication that helps and can't find a diet or supplement that combats the symptoms either. My doctor wants me to quit taking shakes and all supplements...he just doesn't understand the bodybuilding lifestyle.
I was curious if any of you have this and if you do, what do you do that helps? Any suggestions would be much appreciated...
I cosign with Freak. You should definitely check out some other doctors and get diff opinions. There's always somebody out there who is going to have different ideas and information for you. You could always just make most of ur protein come from food and tune in your diet so you don't have to rely a lot on supps. Other than that I got nothing for ya man. Good luck!

Yeah...I've been to a GI doc and got scoped (that sucked) and basically did nothing for me. Pretty much just looking to see if anyone out there has a similar problem and what they are doing for it.
Yea bro I was recomended to eat alot of fiber.. A quick supp that worked for me was fibercon this way u get the fiber without unwanted calories or whatnot hope that helps
No experience with this myself sorry, but they have a treatment for just about everything these days, keep looking mate, someone is bound to be able to help

I've had IBS for at least 5 years now. I got to the bathroom about 4-5 times a day. IBS for me is a mental battle that some days i win and some days i lose. If i can mentally control my stomach then I have a good day, otherwise its miserable. I have "comfort" foods that I eat that I know wont upset my stomach. I dont like to try new foods for the most part. On the supplement thing, I personally take a multivitamin, 3 shakes a day, and a nitric oxide supplement. My brother has a milder case of IBS and he found out taking Acidophilus. This is a bacteria thats already in your stomach and some people has a lack of. I started taking it and it has helped me a little. Maybe this will help ya a bit. GL.
Are you lactose intollerant, or have you tried limiting or eliminating milk and other high-lactose foods from your diet?
That did it for me, once I stopped drinking milk, eating yogurt and cottage cheese everything cleared up. I also take 5-10 grams of psyllium husk fiber each night.

I take about 4 large spoonfulls of Milled Oat Bran every night. I also take an Immodium tablet at night at two in the morning. My diet is basically chicken breast, salad, eggs, salmon, and an Activia yogurt in the morning. Still having symptoms. I am gonna stop taking the Immodium as I can feel a tolerance building. We'll see what happens next...
I also have been taking Digestive Enzymes with everymeal (Vitamin Shoppe brand). They don't seem to help at all.
