stupid Q, when tracking nutritional facts, you measure and go by the meats raw or cooked value?

A little of both measure by uncooked value and add whatever I need to depending on ingridents. Depending in what medium you cook you will lose or gain moisture. Cooking can also change the amount of fat that your consuming as some will cook off of the meat.

Why measure after? Water difference has to be taken into account. 100 grams of beef brisket has 21 grams of protein, if you weigh it after cooking and it weighs 75 grams do you say to yourself "Ooh jee it weighs less so the amount of protein is lower" NO. If you are going to cook a recipe that asks for 4 ounces of steak you don't buy the amount that will wind up to 4 ounces you buy 4 ounces.

Beef jerky has generally more protein per a gram than other cooked meat because it has most of its water removed, with water it would be a much larger piece of meat.

I measure everything before hand but I think as long as you keep it consistant that will help you to figure out what works and what doesnt work.

What diet are you on that your measureing out your meals, if you dont mind me asking?

food scale, again probably just need to be consistant whenever measuring and you'll figure out how your body responds by changing the amount you are putting in your body

My mom had one laying around so I use that, not very high tech or anything but it gets the job done.

I imagine you can pick up something cheap from either a grocery store or wal-mart.
