Hey Guys!

I'm getting closer and closer to the end of my bulk and I just wanted to get my facts straight well in advance to my cut phase. I would like to know whether or not you guys still take dextrose after your workout during a cut phase AND also do you guys take casein at night during a cut phase? Thanks!

A casein protein food or supplement should continually be taken at night.

Dextrose might be better to take during the workout, along with some whey. Then, post workout have some whey and plenty of complex carbs and some other protein.

You might wanna read the Cutting sticky up above by Layne Norton. Its very detailed and full of great reasoning and tips.

Hey <3Frosty!

Should I continue to take 2 scoops of casein at night or should I lower it to just 1 standard scoop during a cut phase? Or does that depend on what/how much I've eaten during the day?

Take dextrose during a workout?? Won't an insulin spike during your workout bring you to a sugar crash (deplete you of energy)?

I've read the sticky by Layne, it was prety helpful but I just wanted to know some extra things that weren't really covered.

Thanks for the reply!

The insulin response certainly will cause a crash. But this is why you sip it throughout your workout, so when you are done you have a good 20-30 minutes til you crash. And by then, you should be getting in some low-gi carbs to keep that from happening. Like some old-fashioned oats or some whole wheat pasta, sweet potatoes, etc.

As for how much protein to take before bed, how much is in the casein protein mix per serving? If its over 25 per serving, id say one scoop is enough. Im also going to assume it has some sugar, which would double if you double your intake.
