I've been hearing a lot of good things about waking up 4 hours into your sleep, go getting something to eat, then going back to sleep.
I'm thinking about trying it but my money is VERY tigh with all my other food thoughout the day. What would be something cheap to eat in this meal? What would the protein/carb/fat ratio be in this meal for bulking?
Or is this just a waste of time?
Thanks guys

I'm not 100% on this but i think its bad for you because it messes up your sleep patterns and when your sleeping your body doesn't digest food properly. Thats why people stop eating carbs a few hours before they go to sleep. So imo its a bad idea but where have you read its a good idea or what have you heard?

Another 4 hours, thus making it 8 hours all up of sleep.

I've over-heard a bunch of guys at my Gym talking about how they're making great gains from it. They were just saying that they wake up half way through their sleep and eat some stuff, then go back to sleep. Other then that, I haven't herd it anywhere else.
It sounded pretty good so I thought I'd see what you guys think of it and if it's worth it.

Apparently Jay Cutler does, just because he does it, doesn't mean it will work for you though. But the only way to find out is try it for a month or so and see what happens

I used to do this when I was trying to put on pounds. But I would only do it when I woke up without an alarm (which in actuality I woke up 5 out of the 7 days anyways during the night). I would go and drink a higher calorie protein or M. Rep. and then go back and lay down. But if I get woke up by an alarm it is harder to fall back asleep so I only did it when I woke up naturally in the middle of the night. It worked pretty well.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm going to try it for a while to see what happens. If it messes up my sleep too much I'll stop.

If you go the shake route, I would make the shake prior to bed and put it in the fridge. That way when I woke up I could just get it out give it an extra shake and down it. If you start getting into making stuff while your up you will have a harder time going back to sleep.

I agree about the alarm making it harder to fall back asleep. That's why I thought about trying to drink a bit of water before bed so I'll naturally wake up in the middle of the night (I've read that's what Indians used to do to wake up in the middle of the night for war or something).
