Fuck I didn't even eat that many Carbs when I was over 280lbs on Gear on a cheat day even, LOL...1984g of Carbs ED (everyday), WOW...Anyway it's been nicely covered for you.

Just something to add

1g of Carbs 4 cals
1g of Protein 4 cals
1g Fat 9 cals
1g Alcohol 7 cals

Here's a formula to use in counting daily macro totals in future, now you can't go wrong

Hahaha, thanks man.
It was a bit of an embarrassing mistake, I got calories and grams mixed up, doh!
I like how you've included alcohol in there at 7cal/gram, that means a six pack of beer is only about 15750cal! Woohoo! lol

If you are trying to gain muscle, then you NEED a calorie surplus.

Jez: we can argue all day long about how many carbs and calories you need, but only experimentation with macronutrients will you be able to find what works best for you.

no it doesnt.. it means that for each gram of ALCOHOL there are 7kcal... but normal alcoholic beverage (beer) have maybe about 5% alcohol which means u need 20dl of it to get 100g of pure alcohol, which would result in 100g * 7kcal per g = 700kcal

Sounds a bit high, but if it works for you, then do it.

LMAO!!! Yeah, well, working with the numbers is a fair way from the reality of the situation. lol, I didn't even realise my mistake untill it was pointed out; I posted this just after I crunched the numbers.

I'm still havin a bit of trouble with the diet, atm I'm counting calories and protien cause they seem to be the 2 most important considerations from what I've learnt and experimented with(although still early days).

One thing that confuses the crap out of me is if you count the carbs in something, then multiply be 4 (to find calories), it almost never works out to be the same as the calories listed in my reference book, or on the actual pack!

I wish there was an easy way to track what you are eating. Something like a dinner plate/bowl with digital reading of macros contained in the meal it's holding. Maybe even an inbuilt stomach real time data storage that tracks the macros itself.

I figure all these hurdles are what makes a physique so satisfying once any progress has been reached...

My weight has increased about 2.5 kilos(about 5lb) since the start of the year, going for an assesment soon to check my bodyfat. I'm nervous because if that weight is fat I'm gunna be sad, if its muscle I'll be over the moon (been about 6month+ since I gained any extra muscle). Im pretty sure it is muscle, but we'll see!

ok the guide that LBJ gave you about calorie equivilents for certain macronutrients is just that...... a guide not something to weigh and measure, sure at the start use the calculations to get a base idea of what you need per day but after that you will start to get a feel for your body and if it needs more or less. seriously mate your making it a little too complicated at this stage in the game keep it simple make sure that what your eating is healthy, and by healthy i mean veggies, lean beef, chicken, salads etc.

Honestly sweating the details such as counting calories is only going to affect your performance keep it nice and simple and focus on your training and i promise you that the results will come, like i said after a while you will begin to see changes in your physique that will allow you to customize your meals.

Good luck mate keep it up
