Uumm who's is telling you that.. I think you have read that it's very important to eat POST workout meal. Simply carbs. protein shake, creatine then one hour later to eat another..

Some of the best bodybuildings (Jay and Ronnie) Dont have a PWO protein shake... they go eat a full meal. You might want to get more reliable sources.

You can just have a normal meal. People have been growing long before supplements were invented.

The basis for having a protein shake is to get something fast into your system, liquid is faster absorbed, than eating chicken or brown rice or something heavy like that.

Your body is depleted of most every nutrient, your glycogen stores are empty. drinking a protein shake with a simple carb will greatly help in your recovery effort and your body will love you for it

A great PWO shake (other than protein) that I make is a waxy maize starch, about 100 g in carbs. I had a flavored BCAA mix with a little creatine. Usually lemonade flavored, very refreshing and the difference in having a PWO shake and not is unbelievable.

Personally I have a 60-80g of protein shake PWO with my 100g of waxy, and then soon as I get home, start up dinner and about 30-45 mins later, eat again.

$.02,

Just because its not solid food doesn't mean it's not a meal bro. Only thing is to have a non fruit source of carbs. Fruit will raise liver glycogen and something like white bread will raise muscle glycogen.
