SO i know ive mentioned this before, but i wanna clarify this. i was told that you can only have 30g of protein every 3 hours and anything more will just convert to fat.

is it true? ive been doing about 45 grams postworkout.

You cannot state a specific number. I would say 45g is PLENTY.

^^^^Agree. I dont think theres a set number, just dont go taking 4 scoops of on whey. lol

It depends on the bodys needs. A 200 lb man will need more than a 150lb man. etc.

It depends on your demands and also on your body composition.

To say it just converts to fat is not true. Your body needs a certain number of calories to maintain its weight..

if you ate 3 chicken breast for every meal (assuming 6 meals) that would be like 60 grams of protein per meal, But at the end of the day that would only be like 1500 calories and you would lose weight!

So although your body may only use 30-50 grams to grow muscle you are much better off getting a large portion of your calories from protein because it is the least likely to be turned to body fat. I personally don't count protein I just eat as much as possible (offseason) Carbs and fat are a different story but as a general bodybuilding rule more protein is better

If you are bulking 1g/lb is optimal. Why consume extra calories (that extra protein you don't count) is going to turn into fat that you will have to lose later on sacrificing some muscle to do it.

I disagree. You have to get the calories to maintain weight from somewhere and carbs or fat aren't a good choice. If what you are saying is correct how do top notch bodybuilders eat upwards of 500 grams of protein a day and get shredded? And don't say they break it up into 13 meals eating 40 grams of protein every meal because that is not true

That is what I have a problem with. "I don't count protein." You make it sound like you can just eat as much as you want because it is protein. Excess calories whether fat, carbs, or protein will turn to adipose tissue. Yes, protein is least likely of the the 3, not to count it is irresponsible in my opinion.

Up to 58 percent of protein broken down in the body will be turned into glucose in the blood. Thats why even in diebetics protein intake needs insulin.

Top notch bodybuilders that you are probably talking about are steroid users. Total difference in nutrition requirments from a steroid user and someone natural.
