I was wondering if it's safe to pre mix your daily protein shakes. For example, say I got up tomrrow, had my shake with my first meal, but at the same time, mixed 2cups of it with milk and put in the fridge for later on that day. Does it change the effectiveness of the protein? Do I lose protein like that? I wont be mixing it days ahead of course, just in the mornings, for later that same day.

If it makes any difference I'm taking PRO-ISO, Precision Whey Protein Isolate, 45g per serving. I take it 2-3 times a day.

My question is why? You aren't saving any time.

Shouldn't be a problem. Should be o.k for a couple of days. No longer to avoid bacteria build up.

I remember reading a thread of this nature before and it was not recommended to do that, due to the proteins in the whey will break down over long periods of time and the effectiveness will not be as good.

Someone spot me on this, it's been a while since this subject was mentioned.

Chris

If you're drinking the shake the same day that you're making it, there should be no problem.

It depends on the time frame. It certainly should not be left in the ice box for an extended period of time.

If you are using optimum whey it shouldn't take more than 15 seconds.. 5 minutes sounds like you have some crappy powder or you aren't using enough liquid relative to your powder.

probably easier to just put the powder in a cup then just add milk when ready to drink
