why is instant oatmeal so bad. or the one that comes in packages. also i have been reading about what some of you guys do with you oatmeal. i would have never thought you could do that......do you blend it with you proten dry, or do you add it after the protien is mixed? what about natural peanut butter in the oat meal? does that do anything for it? i like oatmeal becuase its easy and quick, but i get so tired of it.....what other complex carb would you recomend for the morning?

Ok you don't want to use instant oatmeal because it is higher in sugar/sodium.

You can buy quick oats (usually come in a cardboard container) but don't have all that stuff added to it.

I don't like peanut butter in my oatmeal but you could try it. Grind the oats in a coffee grinder and for best results stick it in a blender otherwise stir really good.

Other suggestions, brown rice, whole grain toast, quinoa, bulgar.

Quaker makes an instant oatmeal that is called "Regular Flavor." It comes in small packs for pre-sorted portions. Regualr Flavor has no sugar and barely any salt added.

Also, if you want to mix yor oatmeal with protein powder: Mix the oatmeal and the powder first in a bowl. Then add either boiling water and stir or add cold water and then put the bowl in the microwave for 1 - 1 1/2 minutes on high. This actually tastes very good.

cardboard containers are best.

i agree with freak that the best way to put it into protein shake is to grind, however you can put them in whole. it isnt that bad. add a little cinnamon to spice it up a notch!

i cooked my oatmeal then add some cooked eggwhites, peanut butter and honey. With this you really get the protein, carbs and fats. Some carb for breakfast : rice, mashed potatoes/sweet potatoes, wholegrain bread
