Confusion over placement of Protein shake!?!?

Hey guys, I have previously been taking a 24g Whey protein shake an hour before working out then straight after a 48g shake.

I was talking to my friend the other day and he said its pointless taking a protein shake BEFORE working out because the protein only takes effect repairing the muscle AFTER you've worked out.

Is he correct?

well if your eating protein before and after its a great choice, especially for the post-workout...thats probably the most crucial meal...

taking your protein pre-workout is a good idea because your feeding all that protein into your muscle and as soon as you start lifting those heavy weights and taxing the muscles....your muscles are already drowning in aminos which is also a good thing as it will not heavily impact on muscle glycogen levels and ultimately not lead to alot of muscle loss

it is scientificly proved that whey protein before the workout increases the amount of amino acids digested after workout by 2.5 times... so yes it is a good idea

you have up until 40 minutes, your body is still in an anabolic state. I like to take BCAAs the second I finish my last set, then take the 10 minute drive home and take my shake while my white rice cooks.
