Hey guys I recently evaluated my diet by writing down all the nutritional info and adding it all up to see what I was putting in my body everyday and the numbers seem a bit odd. Here is my diet:

Morning: Protein Shake w/ Oats
Midmorning: EasyMac w/ Tuna
Lunch: Natural chicken breast w/ Vegetables and cottage cheese
Preworkout: Protein Shake
Postworkout: Protein Shake w/ Oats
Dinner: Teriyaki Chicken, beans, and vegetables
Midevening: Tuna w/ brown mustard
Bedtime: Peanut Butter

Ok, first I want you to critique my diet above. I don't think it's TOO bad but maybe could use a little work. But here are the numbers I have come up with alongside the diet:

1700 Calories, 45g of Total Fat, 221g of Carbs, and 242g of protein

My question is how does this diet work for someone who is cutting/maintaining (6ft 4in, 212 lbs)? I never thought I was only getting 1700 calories and I know I need more but how do I get them without adding a bunch of fat? Thanks to all that respond.

Have eggwhites in the morning with your shake. For your postworkout meal put ricecakes with Jelly instead of oats, and move your oats to the meal after that. Other than that it looks pretty good.

if you are looking to maintain/cut then the amount of protein and carbs you are getting looks ok. if did want to cut more than maintain i would reduce the amount of carbs you are consuming and eat them earlier on in the day

What do you guys think about the caloric intake I am getting? 1700 for my size, 6'4" 212 lbs, seems so insufficient on paper. Shouldn't I be getting around 3000-4000? I know I'm cutting but that 1700 seems so drastic of a number.

Are you mantaining weight with only 1700 calories?

1700 Calories = 45g of Total Fat, 221g of Carbs, and 242g of protein= 405 calories of fat + 884 calories of carbs + 968 calories of protein=2257 calories

Your math was wrong somewhere bro. 4 grams for every carb and protein, 9 for each gram of fat.

Your intake is like this

Fat: 18%~
Protein:43%~
Carbs:39%~

Yeah I have been around 210-215 for a few months now. And my math may be off a little bit, it was just a rough, quick calculation. Do I need to consider a weight gainer of some sort or how should I approach this?

At 210-215 I wouldn't consider a weight gainer unless you naturally have a problem gaining weight. What you need to do is bulk so that means getting in an extra 500-1000 calories worth of food extra a day, it will yield about 1-2 more pounds gained every week. Try to limit how much extra fat you get in, but aim for more protein in the diet.

I would add around 200 more calories worth of protein, 200 more calories worth of carbs, and 90-100 calories of fat.

Take in somewhere around 25-30 more grams of protein, 25 more grams of carbs and 9-10 of fat.

Your not getting in too much fat right now, so a little extra fat from the extra food isn't too bad.
