I know low glucose levels deplete your energy and stamina for lifting but I was watching a video posted about Samir Banout training for the Olympia and he/or his trainer said something about having low Glucose levels. Does this help you get trimmed up? I would assume so but how low/long can you go and keep this up? Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Also, how do you go about this if you want to dry out a little for summer-time?

Low glucose levels, he was probably talking about putting himself into ketosis where protein and fat are the main sources of energy. And I think it takes about 2 weeks of very low to no carbs for it to start up.

Another thing to keep in mind is that they use steroids for the purposes of cutting.

This is a great question for Freak. We should try his spot-light method. LOL

As for ketosis, I think you can actually enter it within 2 days, but should limit your time in that state to 10-14 days.

It takes at least 50-100g of carbs per day to prevent ketosis.116.

Fat supplies 60% of the body's ongoing energy needs during rest. Even on a total fast a person cannot lose more than half a pound of pure fat per day.158

Now down to what you guys are talking about.

Fasting | Vhi Healthcare

Appears to be the third day for men and second day for women. This will vary depending on your activity levels and how full your glycogen stores were. The third and second days are assuming full glycogen stores (375-500g) of carbs. The brain requires 4-600 calories of glucose per day.

It definitely won't take weeks. A few days is probably the most accurate answer.

When ketones rise in the blood the ph drops and becomes more acidic.

If you can't tell I'm not a fan!
