theres no need to fear cook is here!!!!

as far as steak goes you should be eating top round or other very lean cuts. stick to dry rubs especially if your going to grill the steak. Dry rubs will give a better flavor on open fire then marinades will. If you are in need of some good rubs this is where I purchase all of mine they are a little pricey but worth every penny. PENZEYS Spices Home Page just because you are eating healthy doesnt mean you have to compromise flavor.

But if you are set on using italian dressing buy the powdered mix where you had your own oil. use extra virgin olive oil and use LESS then the it says on the pouch and add water in its place. that way it dissolves the flavoring all the way. You can also add basalmic and some fresh garlic and make a vinnigerette to marinade it in.

Any reason you stopped? Just wasn't into it?

The one good thing that comes out of that is that women appreciate a man that can cook. And the better you cook the better they appreciate.

no I love cooking however its hard to make a lot of money in that field. I mean there are exceptions of course but for the amount of people that go to school for it vs the amount of people that really make a good living i.e head chef at high end resteraunts or owning your own establishment is a VERY large margin. actually the friends I have that went to cullinary school are now all doing things unrelated to cooking. also while I was attending A really good job fell into my lap so I dropped out and I have been at this job ever since.

Good ideas, Cook. I didn't realize that you had a culinary background.

As for Penzey's - dude! I love their stuff too, but who needs to pay $28.00 for a single vanilla bean just because it's from Madagascar? Is there that big of a difference? When grilling, I make my own rubs for like 10% of the cost (with low or no sodium, btw). (I wish my dad was a doctor! LOL)

As for the salad dressing marinade, I've used this before, for steaks & for roasts. I bought the 7 Seas non-fat Extra Zesty Italian. God only knows what all of the chemicals were, but it sure tasted good!
