I just had surgeory and I wont be able to work out for a whole week. I have been lifting 5- 6 days a week and been following a pretty good diet. I eat 5-7 meals a day(2 consisting of shakes) taking in about 1-1.5 grams of protein ber pound of my bodyweight. I eat about the same amount in good carbs and 20 percent of my diet consists of good fats. I weigh 188 and my body fat is about 12-15%. My goals are to try to put on lean muscle. How should I change up my diet so I wont put on fat but lose as little muscle as possible, since I won't be able to workout at all for about a week. (I am gonna have withdrawl)I am also taking fish oil pills, zma, joint support, and mega men vitamin by gnc should i keep taking these sups.

Keep taking your supplements. Keep your protein up but just decrease your total calories by 500. What kind of surgery are you having? This is just an educated guess since you won't be as active you won't need as many calories but you still want enough nutrients for repair of tissues impacted by the surgery. Drink plenty of water, stay away from all caffeine, sugar, alcohol (related stuff you shouldn't eat anyway).

1st of all you wont lose any muscle in a week...keep taking the sup...have 4 meals as shakes and the other 2-3 as protein and veggies..cut out the carbs for that week plus the next week and then only eat carbs as veggies or salad..

welcome to the dungeon papi...
i COSIGN with freak...
keep taking the supps & possibly throw in some glutamine to help aid your recovery after surgery...
when you're not working out stick to carbs like brown rice & stay away from quick acting carbs for that week...

I agree about keeping taking the supplements but I totally disagree with everything else.

i didn't read this earlier, thx for quoting that freak, i agree with you 100%

NO>>>I definetly wouldn't advise cutting carbs out AT ALL, just no fast acting carbs when you're not working out...
eat 5-7 good clean meals with a nice bit of carbs in with about 20-40g protein in each meal...

& add whey in as an addition to your diet...
bcaa's, glutamine & zma will help aid your recovery nicely...carry on taking those other supps you mentioned too

The reason to keep the complex carbs in is because they are protein sparing and will allow the protein to do it's job and repair tissue. If you have little to no carbs the body uses protein for energy/glucose instead of growth/repair.
