I realize all the negative aspects of alcohol, and I avoid drinking literally on a regular basis with being in college. And when i say "drinking", i mean like gettin hammered and partying, or at least being at the point where you are "under the influence".

But...what about those nights after a long days work (real work, not gym work), and you wanna wash that steak down a light beer. Is it really gunna ruin my training for the day?

I understand that when you drink, your body burns the alcohol and not the carbs/fats that it should be burning to help you stay lean and in shape. But, IMO, my metabolism can break one beer down. So it' snot a matter of it hurting my "diet", but more a matter of messing with my muscle's rebuilding.

So, your thoughts on literally ONE beer.

* and this wouldn't be a regular thing. I'm saying one beer maybe once every two, three, maybe even 4 weeks. I just wanna know, cause i get so damn guilty. Had half a beer tonight and i get so down on myself.

Don't get down on yourself. The intake you described won't negatively impact your bb goals.

Beer=poison. A glass of wine would do you much better. Consider a deep heavy red, a cab or a merlot. Something with a lot of tannin that makes you drink only a little at a time. Unless you're a devote wine connoisseur you're probably gonna have to have food with it. Try that because at least wine has anti-oxidants and is good for your heart, I also find it to be a good vasodialator.

Yeah, I don’t mean to highjack your thread mate .. But I also have an alcohol related question based on if you have one binge drinking session per week

Is it the alcohol itself that is to blame?

For example.. you drink Jack Daniels .. with coke.
is the coke with its high levels of sugar what we're trying to avoid or the alcohol itself? ..

I know alcohol has effects such as lowering your testosterone levels and making you feel lazy etc. but does it actually stop your body from repairing and gaining muscle mass ?

Seems to me like its basically just giving your body excess calories meaning you stack on the kg.

Me and my training partner go to the gym about 3-5 times per week.. He doesn’t drink but I’m out in the clubs drinking each weekend. Anyway point being that I haven’t really noticed much difference between our gains other then he has slightly less body fat

1, alcohol produces alot of estrogen...

2, binge drinking is worse for u & body, not to mention the strain on your liver due to the shock of goin clean for a week then puttin as AB put it, poison into your system...binging is actually worse than drinking on a regular basis mate...

once a month is more than enough, take some consideration bro

if you are going to "Binge" drink it is better to drink straigh alcohols. for instance if I going out and my plan is to get drunk (which doesnt happen very often only a few times a year) I usually drink grey goose with a lime twist or scotch on the rocks..if i recall there is only around 125 calories per drink. so if you have 10-12 drinks ocer the course of a long nigh the caloric intake isnt too bad....but the alcohol definently hinders your work in the gym.......But the way I look at it is im 25, human, and never going to be pro-bodybuilder so if i want to go out and get drunk on a friends birthday or a wedding or something I do it. I know my training and diet are on point and its not going to noticeably affect my progress...
