I'd laid off training due to job and school situations...and damned if i don't go and have a heart attack!

not kidding..Dr. said the EKG showed i had a 'heart attack-like episode that is a clear pre-curser to having a real attack'...sounds like her Mercedes payment was paid per word but hey...she's cool and she's cute

SO...took my diet log for a week..i suck!

but reading everything on diets on here..hitting the gym back with dr's approval, shouldn't i be more in a cutting diet?

i read where carbs should be around 40-50% per day, and 1 gr of protien per weight...
shouldn't i flip the carbs lower, like down to what i should on fats 20%...

i feel i should be in a long term 'cutting' phase...going to grocery store today and we cleaned everything crappy otu of the cupboards and starting fresh

i gotta be around to dance at my kid's wedding...or at least be fit enough to bury the monkey heads that think they're going to date her out back...

What is your goal? I assume you are overweight and want to lose some lbs while retaining as much muscle as possible.. check out Layne Norton's sticky at the top of the nutrition section and feel free to ask any questions after you have read it.

Don't go on any extreme diet that you can't stick to. You need to reduce overall calories. Reduce the amount of junk food you eat and eat more fruit and vegetables as they will fill you up more.
I think the 1g of protein per lb of body weight refers to lean bodyweight.

thanks for the replies..seems more focused now...i was thinking '255 grams of protien!?"

i got down to 230 from 290, reading the stuff on here and working out religiously.soi've put on 25 since i stopped

same old girly whineass excuse 'no time, kids got soccer, oh look..Celebrity Fit Club is on VH1!!!"

so hitting back..the last time i was more with dropping weight, but i don't think my over all BF% dropped much...

i'm going in tomorrow am and get my BF tested, plus my baseline EKG, body measurements, etc...figure i go from there

heading to the sticky

after you design a diet you should run it by your cardioligist to make sure that it is appropriate for you

Yeah "run it by." Good idea cook. I would suggest that also but M.D.'s usually have very little nutrition knowledge unless their undergraduate degree was in nutrition, dietetics, biochemistry etc...

Yeah "run it by." Good idea cook. I would suggest that also but M.D.'s usually have very little nutrition knowledge unless their undergraduate degree was in nutrition, dietetics, biochemistry etc... The one thing they would be good for is nutrient/drug interactions.

echocardiogram came out ok...they got me on a medication that should help clear the minor blockage, and they think it's in conjunction with an acid reflux situation, kind of a 'domino' effect

Doc ok'd all the stuff i printed here and took in, says everything the board here and the sport in general says to eat is good, and crap I am not supposed to eat aggravates everything..so he gave me agreen light as far as medication interactions etc.

ok'd the excercise plan. says he isnt' worried about added stress to the system..he says the excercise should alliviate what i'm feeling via work and the house, and help. he doesn't want to start telling my general prac to start giving me pills to calm down, wake up and all that other crap, which is fine with me...

plus he gave me 4 sick notes for hte next 3 weeks until finals, my orals and graduation is over..says take off when i need to ....

so..thanks for the feedback..heading to the grocery store now..working out when and how to work out..thanks
