1 percent milk is the best. Cheese usually has a bit more fat, and if you don't get an exact portion right on the cheese you might eat a little more cheese than you need.

if your trying to cut down...fats and carbs before bed time is not a good thing.

however, a type of protein called caseinate is beneficial while you sleep.
caseinate protein is much slower digesting than whey, as it digests over a period of hours.
therefore, if you make a shake before bed you won't be going 7-10 hours without food. it will help keep some of your muscle mass as well...as during dieting you don't want to lose what muscle you have.

cassein protein can be bought in a powder form...ON makes one.
milk/cottage cheese also have a ton of caseinate protein in them. however, if you are on a diet those should not be eaten before bed.

i mix up two scoops of that before bed every night. i'm thinking about putting some glutamine-sr by mhp in with it, but i'm not sure if its worth it because i get gluatmine from my whey and cellmass. what do you think?

-- on a side note, the ON vanilla casein is so delicious lol.

and for the author of the post:

ON casein is good, and probolic-sr my mhp (if memory serves me correctly) will also sustain protein release over like a 12 hour period as it is a mix of whey and casein.
