i want to use green tea as a little pick-up during the day, both in terms of metabolism and just plain getting some energy to get through some of the mundane parts of the day. is it as simple as buying the real green tea, like tea bags, and putting them into water? [seems like a dumb question, but i just wanna know the best way to use it. and can i put it in a water bottle, or does it have to be hot water?]

those "lipton green teas" or other arizona green teas are garbage right? even if they are diet with no sugar i feel like it's still as bad as a soda

arizona green tea is garbage its just as bad as soda actually my roommate drinks it all the time i think there is a bottle in the fridge. yep there is lets see 8oz is 17g sugar pretty bad.
im not sure about the lipton I would guess the same. if you want to drink green tea you have to buy it in bag form then make it. you can brew up a large amount then put it in your fridge to save time.
I have been taking green tea for years but i take the supplements in pill form. its easier that way its good for metabolism but it is also a GREAT antioxidant

no you cant drink too much green tea. the caffeine is sooooo low you can drink as much as you want.

what i meant by bag form I mean buy actual tea bags. then you have a few options fill up a kettle and put in a bunch of bags and boil it. then put the tea in a container in the fridge.

or you can make "sun tea" where you would fill up a clear container with hot water then put in the tea bags, close the container then leave it outside in the sun for a day or two (not sure how long you need exactly) this way is more simple and produces a more mild flavor. I prefer regular sun tea over traditional iced tea.

hope this helps bro....

thanks for the rep bro!

as far as drinking the green tea to be honest I dont know how much to take in a day I usually only drink it when i got to my grandmas (im 1/4 japanese) or when i'm out to sushi but i will tell you the mg i take a day then you can try to base it off of that. the pills I take are 40% catechins and 60% polyphenols (i dont know what that means exactly) and each pill is 400mg I take 3 a day so 1200 mg's a day..... i dont know if that will help you or not since you are going to be drinking it?

yeah that should be fine I dont think green tea is one of those things that really needs to be measured out too much. about the only side effect from drinking too much would be stained teeth or the jitters if you drank ALOT cause it is VERY low on the caffeine side....actually is it even caffeinated. to be honest i dont know if it is?

Green tea does have caffeine (sp? - I must be the third worst speller on here) unless you buy the decaffeinated kind. If you're buying bags, Lipton, or Celestial Seasonings - or whatever you find is the cheapest.

If you're making sun tea (which is one of my all time favorite things to drink - decaffeinated iced sun tea), you are supposed to refrigerate it within 12 hours of exposing the bags to water. I don't know why that is, but you may have seen when tea (any kind) gets mold on the top. Yuck! Put the big bags in a glass jar with the lid on tight, sit it in the sun while you're at work or school & when you get home that night - it's ready to ice & drink. Remove the bags from the jar before you refrigerate the remainder.

Either preparation (steeped or sun) won't be as dark as regular tea. It doesn't even need any sweetener - maybe a squeeze of lemon.

As for heart rate - if it has caffeine - it will raise it. It's a stimulant.
