I agree with this whole heartedly. It may be stupid, but when you do cardio, you sweat. When you eat spicy foods, you sweat. Good enough for me.
As for NYT article, I didn't read it, but I agree with this as well. I'm not sure whether it is the raise in metabolism, or the shock to the stomache, but I always feel more full, for a longer period of time after eating them.
Celery - probably yes. Soup (especially really thick soup) probably not. I think JMD hit that one on the head. UNLESS, it actually is BullShit soup. Eat a bowl, gag, barf it up, and you've actually expelled more calories than you took in. I'd prefer to eat something else, personally.
