Oatmeal/Pretzels for post workout

I use oatmeal or pretzels with an MRP for my carbs after a workout. are these good sources of carbs for post workout?

I'm really surprised that 40 views were tracked on this thread already and no one has answered! Those aren't really good to use to be honest. And a meal replacement powder will already have carbs in it so you can't control exactly what type of carbs they are and unless it says they digest slow or fast you won't really know. (I'm assuming thats what you mean by mrp means, if i'm right not correct me)

Oatmeal will slow down your digestion, which isn't good for post workout. Pretzels aren't the most health consious food to be eating after a workout either. You would be better off with white potatoes, a cranberry or grape fruit juice, white rice. You don't need a large portion either especially with a meal replacement drink.

Thomas and LBJ summed it up. One thing to add is to keep eating low-med carbs about every 2 hrs as your normal spacing is to refill glycogen stores.

No they are not. Simple carbs when you wake up and post work-out. Complex carbs for the rest of the day.

Ya have to take in simple carb post workout to help with the absorbtion of protein. And I think you should take in complex and simple in the morning, energy for now and later
