Well lets start here.
I posted up a article in the bodybuilding discussion area related to this. Don't train him too heavy. I would say nothing under 7 or 8 reps.
Don't have him do any forced reps, if he can only physically do 12 reps don't encourage the "extra rep".
Why are you going to add cardio training in on a weight lifting day? It kinda defeats the purpose, if he's going to do cardio, let him do it on seperate days.
After he gets his form down keep him in a 8-12/13 range and make sure that he doesn't rush through an excercise or use body leverage.
And be honest with him. Inform him. Hell, link him to this website. Tell him what a certain rep range does and why diet is important along with proper training.
Oh, and don't train him on any machines unless you need to. Legpress machine, hacksquats, ab machines, and pully machines. It's better if he develops his body early on for core excercises that he will need to use if he decides to continue training. Physically there is a large difference between training on a bench press machine and training with a regular bench bar.
