i read that it isnt smart to eat fiber (whole wheat) after a workout, well it took me about a year to convince my mom to switch the household pantry over to wheat products, for simple carbs after a workout is commerical cereal a bad idea as well as white rice?

Well this is the thing. You should take in a simple sugar after you workout but that doesn't mean it has to be in the form of a cereal or a candy bar, or something thats crap.

Have a portion of white rice, or white potatoes but stay away from cereals and candy. You don't need a tremendous amount of carbs to have an insulin spike in your body post workout, keep that in mind. And if you eat too much it can interfer with your diet (by having too many calories).
