Just reading on the forums and a little bit of my own knowledge iv come across insulin and the fact that it is raised in the blood stream when you eat sugary foods and also that it is used as a steriod. I was wondering if there was a link between fat people putting on muscle as a result of overeating (increasing their insulin levels) but if this is so, how come fat people are more likely to get diabeties and need to inject insulin?

Your logic is a little off there. Misinformation really.

People with diabetes have problems creating insulin in their body. So when their blood glucose levels go up, they need to inject insulin into their body. Otherwise their body can't break down the sugar. And insulin isn't a steroid persay. It has highly anabolic results when used in the right time.

If your insulin is high all day, your body is going to pack on fat. Thats why bodybuilders don't eat alot of quick digesting sugars.

Thanks. My father is diabetic, my cousins too and other people in my family. I also have a very slim chance of getting it at an older age so I learned what I could about it.

I see. So the anabolic benefits would be along the Mike Mentzer carbohydrate-building-muscle line?

For the non-diabetic Insulin is a double edge sword. Over a short period of time with the correct diet protocol after injection it can be beneficial but extremely dangerous in comparison to typical oral and injectable anabolics. If misused the potential to become Hypoglycemic is high and it's no joke either, misuse has resulted in death in the past and will undoubtedly in the future.

The reason it is a double edge sword is that it will store nutrients in both muscle and (if a preventive nutrition protocol isn't used) adipose cells, as bodyfat levels increase so does PPAR-Gamma in adipose tissue while GLUT4 is reduced in skeletal muscle. Adipose cells become ultra sensitive to Insulin's storage shuttling effect while muscle is left to fend for itself.

Short-term Insulin has a lot of potential for muscle growth with increased GLUT4 feeding muscle nutrients.
Longer term Insulin increases PPAR-Gamma, lowers GLUT4 in striated muscle and has the potential to cause Diabetes.

Either way it's a dangerous hormone and should be something you look into further down the road of anabolic use.

EDIT- Just noticed I went into "Exogenous Inj. Mode", understand that eating a lot of simple sugars can lead to a similar situation that I speak of above.
