Recently I have been putting one cup of oats in a coffee grinder and pouring the "oat powder" into my protein shakes for meals I need to have on campus, away from legit foods. Is this an ok method? Am I losing anything nutritionally from these oats not being cooked when I eat them?

Yeah it is a good idea. I think they commercially sell oatmeal in a ground down form, but home made is always better.

If anything more nutrition is lost when you cook them.

I guess it's the same logic behind cooking pasta too long, too long and it changes the GL load on your body. Eating oats uncooked is perfectly fine, I eat them by the cup uncooked.

yea they make shakes a little sandy but it's no big deal. It's filling enough in that it can easily hold me 1 3/4 to 2 hours till I need to eat again. You can get dry oats at any grocery store by my knowledge.

Yes, but thats why i eat a bananna with them. I buy them at the supermarket Quaker old fashioned oats, not the instant ones.
