I am a newbie to nutrition, But from what I have learned from guys on here an another board, ((( You have to eat !!! ))) I to had and still do have a hardtime gaining weight.
You need to eat, and I am sure ( could be wrong ) But I will bet they will tell you that you need to also be taking some sort of protein.. Maybe whey protein.
One place you should start, is by reading the nutrition part of this forum.. There is alot of good info in there. Don't get frustrated, gotta hang in there.. You need to eat, but one lesson I learned, was that when I did eat, I ate the wrong things, and I did gain weight, but it was fat... That sucked !! I went to a site that was recommened to me by someone on Anabolic Minds, and it was called fitday.com
Try that, it is free, and you can enter in what you are eatting, and it will give you a good breakdown of everything.

I hope this helps you some, but I am sure more members will step in and offer you some help.. But first of all, go read the nutrition area..

Good luck..

Hello there :) i had the same situation when i was your age :)

anyway what you should do it to start cooking yourself :) i found it really useful... its quick and a bit more motivating :) try cooking yourself some egg omlet in the morning followed by another 6~ meals a day. Buy yourself a fitness magazine like mens fitness (i guess you live in the UK??), you can find lots of nutrition tips, including free nutrition plans!!

also if you dont eat much buy yourself a protein shake (e.g maximuscle progain). They arent very cheap (about 26 quid from ebay for 2KG - bout 1 months supply), but they come in very handy, and you should see results within weeks (considering you take the drink with a high protein diet). From what i heard for some people who have good metabolism (which could be you) it is better to take more carbohydrates instead of more protein (please correct me if im wrong though), thats why i think progain would be more suitable. It has 32 grams of protein, 62 grams of carbs, and 450 calories per serving (which is like a good meal).

But since your only 16 your parents might be against using supplements :) well at least mine were... Then the only advice i could give you is just simply eat more nutritious food...

i hope this helps a little. Remember to take it easy, your only 16 and so your still growing! dont put too much pressure on the joints. i trie posting few links but it wount allow me :)))

LISTEN STICK TO THE BASICS THERE IS NOTING ELSE BUT THE BASICS SO:

PROTEIN(2-3g per kilogram)
meat
egs
milk and milk products(cottage,yougurt,...)
soy,....

CARBS(3-4g per kilogram or in ur case even more depends on the metabolism)
oatmeal
rice
potatoes
polenta or corn bred(one of my favorite got this from coleman himself)
pasta,...

FATS(1-4g per kilogram also depends on metabolism)
in your case beening skinny you can eat bad fats as well that fact is that all good fats dotn contain as much as vitamin b12 and such as good fats altho u should comsume more good fats and btw "bad" fats are those of animal essence and promote testosterone prouducing so eat ur porkchop lol

peace

personally i would recommend progain by maximuscle. search on ebay, theyr 26 quid. it has more carbs than protein which could be more effective for you.

1. eat icecream or snack foods before going to sleep.
2. dont workout for a few days and just pig as much as possible.
3. take some creatine, i gained over 40lbs from creatine *dam it

I hope you are joking. I believe the OP meant weight equating to muscle, the weight one would put on taking these tips would be anything but.

When I was 130 I had a psychological problem with food, I wanted to get big but I was always too picky and would never it enough. I was not conviced that I could ever gain weight not matter how much I ate. Marko posted some good tips. Plan your diet and training for one month. Plan every meal and stock up on food. Then all of you have to do is do it. Take pics right now and then about every week and track your diet and your lifts so keep yourself accountable. You will begin to learn about your body and can tweak it from there. I am positive that you are not eating enough because I went through the exact same thing. Read the stickies at the top of this forum and keep track of what you eat and post it. First make a diet yourself and then we can help you. You will learn much more by doing it yourself than by having someone just make one and say here you go.

Good luck

Not taking a shot at lineman, But you better be careful eatting like crap before you go to bed... If you do so, all you will do is get fat.. Trust me.. I know. My wife and I started having a BIG BOWL of ice cream right before we went to bed, and sure enough, I got the dreaded love handles.. Now I am working my butt off try to get rid of that crap... Take some good ole protein, and eat right, and do what these guys tell you do do.. I was just like you when I was younger, and I was that way up until I got married and actually started eatting right, but even then, it was hard to gain weight.
Its better to take the time and gain the right kind of weight ( Muscle weight ) then gaining alot of fat and then having to try to get rid of it..

Just my opinion...

Good luck to you..

I heard that when your first starting to bulk its good to have heavy meals before bed but only for a few days so your body gets used to it.

I got a feeling lineman28790 might have differing goals from rav11007.

I can't relate to difficulties gaining weight but I've many friends in the same situation. Fast motabs are nice for leaness but gaining muscle is difficult. It realy does come down to Calories in versus cals out. One thing I see, and you have to walk the line, is packing on weight no matter what the weight is, fat or muscle. Just being 190 or 200 pounds witout the quality really doesn't do you justice. Of course you will need to gain some fat along the way, but don't pack in carbs and cals just to say you are 5 lbs heavier.

My training partner has trouble gaining weight, he stops working out for a week and there goes 5 lbs, but at 205 he is freakin strong and wide; and that kinda size took him many many years to attain.

Eat Big, Throw Big and Grow Big. Damn! There's a T-Shirt slogan!
