i've just started another bulking cycle again today. i've looked all over BBing.com, t-nation.com, and the dungeon, and can't advice on what to eat before bed. but also, i'm curious to try eating 4 hours into sleeping and then going back to sleep. it's summer vacation, so i won't miss out on sleep, and i'd like to try it unless it's advised against(too much fat gain?).

so basically i'm asking what supplements/foods should i eat before bed(besides cottage cheese), how soon before bed do i eat them, and should i try eating halfway through a nights sleep?

all i've heard so far is that it's good to have glutamine on an empty stomach right before bed, and it's also good to have about 40-80g of casine before bed.

Casien protien like you said before. Thats about it man. You need the casien before bed because it absorbs slower and keeps you out of a catabolic state for a longer period of time. I dont know about the waking up every four hours to eat. Just eat some casien and get a good breakfast of oatmeal and protien when you wake up. After all, you grow while you sleep.

I'm with Palmetto on this one. If youre using glutamine you could add that to youre shake.

If u dont want to ubuy the caseine protein, i would suggest a lean ground round steak before bed the tougher the steak the longer it takes to digst. It will probably last 4-5 hours in your system depending on how much u eat.

Good advice in here

i always have a steak before going to sleep .. the protain and fat in it will make a good anabolic envirnment .. since small amount of Sat. Fat will help to Test production .. and for me i prefer real soild food than supplements .. but sometimes u don't have time to prepare meal so supplements are ur choice to go

i'd go with good solid meat, beef/steak is great but it doesn't have real expensive, you can make yourself some hamburgers with lean ground beef. The small amount of fat will slow digestion, which will control cortisol levels and beef and a healthy amount sat. fat is known to pump up test levels. This is way cheaper than casein, and tastes a lot better than cottage cheese.

I have a regular whey protein shake before going to bed, that usually knocks me out. Or, 100 grams of turkey
