If you have trouble consuming enough carbs from healthy sources, it's ok to bump it up with a few not-so-clean sources (white rice, white pasta) or even some junk (pizza etc.). Just keep an eye on the bodyfat.
Agree with the milk, drinking calories is much easier than eating them. Juices are also good but they lack the protein content of milk.
