mmmmmm i love how you mentioned that wrm feeling in the begining of the post. you actualy got lucky with your injury. a few weeks ago i saw some fool jacked up on roids (football kids i knew in high school) they were doing flys not like 90 degree flys all the way out with 90lb db's. the one went down and dident come back up. it was gross he riped his pec off his arm and tore up the inside of the pec in the middle. of course he dident heal right and is still on steroids cuz thats how a moron rolls but point of this was it could have been worse and its a good thing you took good care of it cuz it could have became MUCH worse over time. basicly GJ bro and good luck with your career. btw you may wanna stay away from chest flys they put 100% pressure on your peck.

^I don't think steroids had anything to do with his injury.

Flys are great, but you should always bend your elbows just a little rather than having straight arms out. That is just stupid to me.

saw the doc on monday. He felt the area and then asked me to resist him in several force exercises. I remember very vividly his response. He cocked his eyebrow and said "I'll be honest with you, I can't believe how fast you are healing." He said that at 8 weeks post op most people have a huge ball of scar tissue still in the area and he said that mine is very soft indicating that the scar tissue is being cleared out very effectively. He then prescribed a home electrical stimulation unit. I went to the trainer's room so their trainer could show me how to use it. The guy hooks it up to me and jacks it all the way up... so much force that it pulled my arm into my side. It felt like I had a spasm in my chest. I freaked out, I thought I had certainly torn it again with that much force. He said "oh no no no... EMS won't tear it" and send me on my way. On my way out I told the surgeon what happened and whether or not he wanted me putting that much stimulation on it and he said "NO NO NO NO! Just enough to make it flex" Good thing I asked him. In any case, the fact that such a tremendous force didn't tear the repair really makes me feel confident about how good it is. What can I say, my surgeon is a friggin' stud. He was just named a surgeon for the US Olympic team! I feel great 8 weeks post op and you can hardly see my scar.

On tuesday I did more smith machine squats. I could actually get my right hand into position for squats and did my warm up sets with both hands, but switched to one hand for my heavy sets... I didn't want to get heavy and then accidentally contract my chest.

working sets were

-325 X 5
-345 X 5
-365 X 5
-385 X 5
-405 X 5 (pictures)
-425 X 5

felt really good

You are like superman. One thing is certain Layne, you'll be the strongest 1 arm squatter around!

Congrats on the recovery so far.

^Agreed, coming back to this thread inspires me a lot, though I do feel kinda depressed for being away from the weights with this damn injury but you show us that with enough determination recovery is like a walk in the park.. great job man.

Sounds like you are doing really well layne, good job.

I bet when it's all better and you've trained it back up to size again you wouldn't even be able to tell anything happened.

I just wish I knew I had a pec tear when I did! I thought the same as you, that it was supposed to be super painful etc, really it was just a 'popping' sensation near my sternum and a slight dull pain there for a couple weeks (that I trained through quite lightly). Now my right pec is slightly deformed
