Today begins my diet for my first contest.

Went last year as a spectator and now I really want to compete. If it's held on the same day, or close to thereof as last year, I've got about 4.5 months which hopefully is enough to time to trim about 12-13% of my bodyfat off.(sitting around 16/17% @210 currently)

My plans are to follow a bit of the Scivation Game over diet and a little of the Layne Norton "Contest Prep" that allows for a few more carbs as a combination.

Wish me luck or something....

Good luck man. Hit the HIIT and that extra weight will melt off.

Lol, actually I'm thinking of staying with the moderate intensity cardio. I did HIIT last year and I'm not sure where I went wrong, but I ended up at about 10%BF @160lbs. Which at 6', is pretty skinny lookin.

And I meant to say, I'm using principles from both diets, not exactly using both per say. The Scivation diet calls for a little more fat and alot less carbs, but allows for moderate cardio, and if I time things right as far as meals go, I think I should be safe with the selected cardio.

Unless I should perform a mix, like HIIT on "off" days of wieght training, but some moderate cardio for just a few minutes on "on" days. Honestly, I'm not sure. I'm only going on the experience I had with HIIT while dieting once before and wasn't super pleased with it.

Exactly, you prob did primarily HIIT last time. I do a blend because I'm paranoid about too much HIIT and muscle loss.

Cool! I live, sleep, eat and train right in the capitol, Austin.

And it was a fantastic show last time, however it was long! (5? hours or so) and I got real hungry during it... So bring some food if you stay from beginning to end.

I did nothing but HIIT then. And now with my split wieght training, it's hard to both wieghts and HIIT(cardio) together on the same days. I don't have enough "off" days to justify JUST doing HIIT as my cardio requirements.

So thankfully I've been just tacking on 20/30min of low-intensity at a decent HR at the end of some of my training sessions.(none on legs, just a 10min-preWO warmup)

As for my "off" days, I'm not sure what my carb allowances are, since I can do HIIT before noon, and still have plenty of time for the gym in the evening to maybe to do a few minutes of moderate cardio. I know I'm supposed to treat the HIIT like a regular wieght training session, but I'd like to get that out of the way first thing when I get my first break at work.
