Hi guys whats up?

I was wondering. Cutting fat is getting difficult now and I was thinking about speeding up the phase with light jogging instead of fast walking. Im a little concernd though that it might be a wrong move regarding muscle loss. However, I recently saw Laynes new episode about high intensety and that it really is not much of a big deal. I want your opinions on this subject especially, Layne. Have any of you guys noticed a signifinant change in muscle loss when doing high intesety instead of lower intensety cardio sessions? I do belivie that fast walking would be better. You dont see many proffesional bodybuilders using high intensety cardio sessions. I just want some feedback on this. I did walk fast today, but after a while I got bored and startet to jog instead. Since I had refeeding day yesterday I figured it couldnt hurt so much anyway. I have yet to decide what Im going to do so I would just like some opinions from you guys first. And Layne, if you could tell me how you do your cardio in a week while cutting, that would be much appriciated.

Im out.

Read through Fmoncas's thread, he went through a very well thought out cutting phase for a competition, and he talks a lot about HIT and LIT cardio.

According to "Body for Life" book, if you do cardio as soon you wake up, in jejum, you are mostly going to burn fat 300% faster than you would if you had eat some meal.

Low period of time (20min) and high intensity.

After the cardio session is over, wait like 1 hour til your first meal of the day.

For whatever my comment is worth. I think a combination of both worked very well for me. I tried to stick to just long, low intensity cardio and I didn't get the results that I thought I should get.

The day I started high intensity stuff I felt an immediate change in my body temperature, I felt noticebly warm through the whole day. The weight started coming off how I needed it to as well.

i believe u should try doing some resistance cardie i.e cycling machine on a high resistance level for about 15 mins or skipping with some ankle and wrist weights that way your getting the best of both cardio and weight training. A routine i used to do was on a cycling machine where the highest level was twenty,
3 mins level 12
3 mins level 2
3 mins level 15
3 mins level 5
3 mins level 18
that way it makes you have hard resistance periods and easy periods and it will burn alot of fat.

It all depends on what you feel best with. There is no denying that high intensity burns more calories in total but high intensity sessions, even 15 minutes ones, are more "tiring" than 45 minute LISS. A hard running session will take significantly more time to recover from than a slow walk/jog.

Muscle loss occurs through generally too high a calorie deficit. It is somewhat irrelevant at what intensity your cardio is at. The smaller the calorie deficit, the greater the chance of retaining most if not all of your muscle mass. Whether you create that calorie deficit with lots of hard cardio and high-ish calories or some easy cardio with low-ish calories, it's more or less the same result as far as getting lean that is. There are far more cardiovascular benefits in high intensity training.

Most natural bodybuilders I know train with some sort of high intensity cardio, either HIIT (e.g Layne Norton) or HISS (high intensity steady state,e.g Tom Venuto). You like to jog, jog! Try it for a week with your current calorie intake and take your measurements. Can't know unless you try. Don't worry, any muscle lost is quickly regained. It's new never-before-attained muscle that is the hard part.
