Hello guys.....just some thoughts

You are skinny!!!!....the wind will blow you away if you keep loosing weight!!! Man you are thin!!! Or you looked better before !!! These are some of the comments that I have to listen everyday at work on the street at the gym.......i have told everybody that I am dieting hard and they still sing the same song to me everyday!!!! Its like if I had a paper posted on my back saying “Hey don’t forget to call me skinny today” ..........This is really a tough sport......you have to kill your self in the gym, eat 7 times per day the same thing for a few months, be hungry and tired all the time and on top of that listen to the people and their negative comments about your self.......

I want to congratulate all the bodybuilders like Layne and the other naturals that put themselves into this.....i believe that we are different we like test ourselves to the max because we are not like all the lazy bastards that go party every weekend, eat junk and watch tv all day............my message is don’t let anybody to discourage your self ....they are just trying to make excuses for not be able to do the things you do....So keep going and working hard because one day you will achieve your goals no matter what they are!!

Peace

Well you know your body ahs changed, not so much padding to fill out your shirts. If it bothers you enough to affect your workouts, you can always get some shirts that fit you better now. Get some tees that show the guns a little better, people won't think your so skinny with and big veiny arm by your side.

Or you can just say f@#$ em and move on, but I know it can get to your head a little.

Yes the head plays games. I hate those days when you are weak and feeling flat at the same time - damn what a mind F!

Right now I'm feeling the effects of low carb and HIIT, time to consume some extra carbs/cals to get some mental hype going.

What´s up guys......4 WEEKS OUT

This past week was crazy....working, training, cardio my diet etc......Also i haven't been in very good mood lately and i ended up the week really tired.......On Saturday after i finish work i went to the gym and hit cardio and did some abs and then i went home and i just collapsed in bed!!!

Today (Sunday) i just rested and watched tv.......and i went with my wife and some friends to Fridays...Oh man i just wanted to cheat..... but I didn't!!!!! everybody in the table told me that there must be something wrong in my head to put my self in this!!!!! at that point i started to get pissed but i just grabbed my glass of water and thought "Lets See what you are going to say when you saw ripped to the bone on competition day!!!!!

Well i am 4 weeks out and i feel very exited and nervous at the same time....but i am putting all i have in the gym...like there is no tomorrow.....So hopefully all this sacrifice will pay off.

I took this pictures today...the lighting is not good but i least you will see the progress..

take care guys

Thank you bro......i was thinking in including both versions in my posing routine.....once i get pumped up i may look a little bigger and impress the judges.

My weaker pose is the back double bicep so i don't think that i will include that one.

Whats up guys.......

I am weighing 190.5 lbs .........I still need to loose between 3-5 lbs to meet my weight class (85kg). I am 4 weeks out so I will decrease my cardio a little in order to loose just 2 lbs per week max. I have been training like crazy in the last 2 weeks and I have lost weight to fast (I have a fast metabolism) ....however I already talked to layne about this and he recommended me to loose only 2 lbs per week. I will need to make the necessary adjustments with cardio to avoid loosing unnecessary weight.

On the other hand .....i have been feeling hungry all the time and all I can think of is the Pizza that I will eat after the show!!!!!!!! Sometimes I have felt depressed and frustrated..... I believe is for the pressure and stress that I have from work, diet, the competition and the fear to fail.

I Just need to keep going for 4 more weeks and this will be over. I believe that from this experience the knowledge I will gain will be most important and valuable than all the pain and sacrifice that I have put my self into. After I finish this I will be in a different level because I will be crossing one more bench mark. I will be achieving one of my goals (competition) and I will be ready (my body and my mind) to start working on achieving the next one (gain more size, competing bigger and leaner and achieve more knowledge)....i think that most people fail because they are like feathers in the wind....they don’t have a plan, they don’t have short tem and long term goals...(or the have unrealistic goals) They just want to get big but don’t know how to optimize nutrition and training...Some don’t even know what protein, carbs, vitamins and minerals do in the body!!

I strongly believe that we need to diet hard and then bulk up if we want to keep growing (even if you are not planning on competing).....Our body as a part of nature works based on the same laws that everything else!! So think about this......Grass and bushes during the dry season shrivel....leaves die and fall!! But the bush is not dead it is alive... he just adapted and decreased his functions to the new needs.....(the same happens with the body when we diet hard) But after the dry-season comes the rainy season and with the first rain the bushes grow and grow and gets stronger to resist the next dry season. The body acts in the same manner....he doest know that you are dieting hard on purpose..he just know that he needs to survive...but after the diet is over and you eat again he needs to make the necessary improvements.... and your body improves ....you get bigger and stronger than before!!!.......then just repeat the process once your body adapted to the rainy season and everything starts all over again. Everybody knows that linear and continuous progression doesn’t exist....so in order to keep getting better we need to zig-zag and change our diet, training methods etc.

I didn’t intend to write about that when I started but I hope my words make sense to you!!

Take care

Francisco

Nice piece Francisco! We are here for support if that is any reassurance. Stay positive you will have ups and downs throughout this process but standing on stage you will be very proud of yourself and will look back on the hard times as character builders that have made you stronger. Take the temporary mind games as a grain of salt and try to keep the long term picture in mind.

I enjoyed your article and it sounds like you have a great perspective.

Take care

Francisco

I enjoyed your article and it sounds like you have a great perspective.

Layne......thank you for your support and thank you for sharing you knowledge with me.. I am doing everything exactly as you said. I haven’t changed anything!!!! By the way what you are saying about everybody feeling the same it is very true. Yesterday I found out that one guy in my gym that was going to compete quitted!!! For no particular reason!!! He was very big ..230 lbs and had all the chances to get a good placing in his class. He was juicing and looking good........but probably he couldn’t fight his fears and inner demons anymore!! Very sad!!..........

What’s up guys.....yesterday I wrote that I was gong to decrease my cardio in order to loose only 2 lbs per week!!!. However Layne told me to keep my cardio the same!!!! How could I loose 2 lbs per week if I keep the same cardio and training protocol that make me loose 4.5 lbs in 9 days.!! I started to freak out and then this is what Layne explain me. “There is an initial period of adjustment before your body hits a steady state. Metabolism isn't linear or simple” ............... In other words my body was adapting to the new diet and training/cardio protocol...so even though I will be hitting cardio hard these coming weeks I won’t loose more than 2 lbs per week.....I have learned another VALUABLE LESSON!!!.............Thanks Layne!!

Take care guys

See you around!!

some people just aren't mentally tough enough. I have a very simple mantra when i'm prepping for a show. When I'm tired and rundown and feel like I can't do another set or another 10 minutes of cardio... I just tell myself "either you want this or you don't. Period"
