with the regular world? It seems if I'm not in the gym I am at home eating every 2-3 hours and I hate it.

I mean is their any proof that you need to eat every 2-3hrs to maintain muscle/grow? Why cant I eat the same amount of food and just stretch it out longer? I have officially killed my social life and I'd love to get it back!

if eating that often doesnt agree with you ...eat less ofter..but bigger meals..you still gotta get all ur nutrients in..ever heard of eating out??....:)

Yes there is proof, when you don't eat every 2-3 hours your body will see it as you don't have any food to take in so it goes into a state in which it hordes anything that goes into it. Along with this if you don't have a costant supply of protein your muscles can't continue protein synthesis. You don't have to have your social life killed to mantain this though.

Say you eat at 5:00pm, you don't have to eat until 7 or 8 at the longest. Say you want to eat at 8 again, make a protein shake, just a bottle of water and some protein mix and use it to supplement a meal, thats another couple of hours you get extended. Just bring your food with you.

Not complaining, asking for some advice.

I usually do pack up food w/ me and take it when I have to but I was just curios if it was 110% nessecary to be eating every 2-3hrs.. just curious if you could compound meals and eat some of them every 4-5hrs.

No need to be an asshole :) Just asking how people keep it all balanced.

Every 2-3 at least, I think milk digests in 4 hours though. But you should definatly always aim for 2-3.

eatin every three hours is a bodybuilding-myth, you can have the same results eating the same amount of food and kcal in fewer meals. I think it has with gastric emptying to do, if you eat smaller meals it will digest faster. Eat bigger meals and the gastric emptying will be slower.

I don't have the references right now for this but I could look them up.

i would greatly appreciate it whenever you get a chance.

I was looking around my gym and I know for a fact that the big/guys in good shape are not eating every 2-3hrs... Hell even Coleman only eats 4 meals a day but I dont want to use him as a great example because he is also on the stuff.

And how do you know those guys aren't juicing? Jay Cutler had like a 6k to 10k calorie diet that he talked about, do you really think he could take that all in three meals?
