One of my friends is going on a religious fasting. He can't eat from sunrise to sunset. My question is, are there anyways that he can take in enough nutrients not to loose alot of mass? And if there is a way what type of food should he take?

He's not allowed to eat while the sun is out, I was wondering if there where any foods that give nutrients that take a little longer to digest? I've heard that the protein in milk digest's slower (caseine?).

Supplementing his fast to deter the loss of, or preserve LBM, sort of contradicts the spiritual purpose of it in the first place. Spirit or flesh...pick one.

If he is not engaged in an strenuous activity or has some sort of health issues there is really little chance of loss of LBM that is going to take place if a person misses a few meals during the daylight hours.

tell him to get a good amount of nutrients at his 1st meal which he will eat before sunrise, then continue to try and get the rest of the nutrients needed in a day after sunset.

Also tell him to keep training till after sunset so he has food in his system.

- First keep stress levels to a minimum
- dont train in Ramadan (body needs rest not just the muscle) also as
your not
eating youll end up causing some muscle loss due to lack protien during the day
- Tell him to foucus on his religous duties
- Dont eat to much on one go when breaking fast
- eat clean food (not large amounts) regularly after breacking fast

Fasting is benificial for the body to rest its system especially the liver, take one day as it come.

after ramadan do full body workouts 1 exercise each group with compound movements for the first 2-3weeks once every 2 days then go back to your usaul split, youll be back to your usuall strenghth
