right now I'm on a split training everything 2x a week w/ calves 2-3x a week. Any lower frequency and my body just doesnt respond. Also like Layne said, I still make strength gains.

Progessive overload is key.

i dont think that if youre doing legs "heavy" and "hard" that you could possibly work them out 3x a week. Your CNS would be cooked.

so layne, if you train your legs twice a week, how many times do you train your calfs then? also 2x a week?

I have been training for 26 years. In the past 2 years I switched to 2xwk and made good gains, which are hard to come by since I have been training for so long. I just decreased the volume to almost half of when I trained a body part 1xwk. Change is the key for progressive growth.
