There are a number of natural bodybuilding organizations out there. Here is a listing of some of better organizations out there.

Amatuer organizations

OCB: Organization of Competitive Bodybuilders

INBF: International Natural Bodybuilding & Fitness

NGA: National Gym Association

NANBF: North American Natural Bodybuilding Federation (NANBF)

ABA: Amatuer Bodybuilding Association

IDFA: Canadian Classic Natural Bodybuilding, Figure Competition

It would be good if people gave some info about each of the organisations. Ie strong points weaknesses. Experience of contests. How they were treated as athletes etc.

good idea vicky. i'll write down a bit of my experiences

INBF (amatuer division of the WNBF): very well run show, things moved smoothly. Judging was very consistant. Overall I thought it was very good. The only downside I can see with this organization is the pro organization (WNBF) is restrictive to their athletes as far as not allowing them to compete in other orgs & not offering any compensation for this restriction. The one other downside is their website is absolutely terrible... you can't find pictures of hardly anyone!

OCB: done 2 ocb shows. Pretty much the same comments as the INBF... though one of the shows ran kind of late... but it also had around 100 competitors. Judging pretty consistant. The downside is they are new and not as established as the INBF/WNBF, the plus side being their pro division is not restrictive and their websites are top notch

NGA: done 2 NGA shows. One was horribly ran, and the other was ran... ok, but ran long. Judging in one was very inconsistant but very good in the other. Overall I liked this organization pretty well the downside being they don't give you much exposure even though they've been around a long time. The website looks like a 2 year old put it together and hasn't been updated in some time (since 2004 or something)

ABA/INBA: These shows were ok, but i felt the drug testing was a little... weird. The shows were also done at venues that were kind of small and the shows didn't draw many people. On the plus side they do get pictures on their website relatively quickly, however the website's quality isn't that great.

Layne can you list what shows you did in each federation so that we know which promoters are doing a good job and which are not.

My experience is only with the WNBF a lot of pros and cons of competing with the WNBF recently more negative than positive. Will elaborate soon bare in mind I have only done the Worlds and the Universe.

Come on folks anyone else got opinions.

INBF: Did the Mid-America Muscle Classic 2 years in a row promoted by Dr. Joe Klemczewski, unfortunately this show is no longer around

NGA: Did the NGA Internationals (show i didn't like) and the Heart of America Natural Classic (promotor John Abraham) and really liked it

OCB: Did the Spirit of America and the Great Lakes States Championships... liked both of them

ABA/INBA: Did the Mr. Indiana and Mr. Illinois.

We at the BNBF only inform someone if they fail a urine test. The INBF and WNBF are the same.

So that doesnt seem so strange.

guess it is different then. I received the results of my urine test when i did an ocb show, so i assumed that's how it worked

As far as natural federation goes, I've only competed with INBF. Shows I've done:

2005 Amateur Worlds
2006 Northeast America
2006 Hercules International

I took a lie detector and if you won your PRO CARD, you take a urine test.
Same as Vicky mentioned, you dont hear about the urine results, which means, your good.

I've competed in a few tested NPC, but they only use lie detector. Shows that were tested with them include:

Mid Atlantic
Natural Empire States
