What's up buddy. I would bet you used a digital scale for both didn't you? The best way is a 7 point caliper test where you actually pinch the skin and measure it with a caliper. There's a few sites you can go to and type in your measurements and it'll calculate it for you. You can get a caliper at gnc or online or maybe a health store near you.

You can almost use dumbells for every exercise out there. If there's an exercise you see people using a barbell for just think about how oyu could use a dumbell. Try new things out and see what you come up with. Look around on youtube and see how some people do their workouts.

how accurate are all those equations for doing it yourself?

That is a serious question, but anyone that tells me what movie I'm thinking of after writing that gets a rep point!

I was so mad because i joined the navy abought a week ago and at the physical they had the equipment to do the underwater body fat thing but unfortunetly they only use it for individuals who are overweight for there height im 5'10'' and 150 so im not sure exactly what my bf% is intill i get a caliper. only thing i was told is that my lean body mass would be 134.

I am in the Air Force, and if you go to any Gym on base/post/fort whatever they should have a Health center there with actual civilian personal trainers, with whom you can actually talk to. If you talk to one and tell them your goal I am sure they will teach you EXACTLY how to use the calipers. If they won't give you any advice or help you out. Just ask the people behind the desk, they people who work on base/post/fort at gyms are usually certified trainers or have some type of knowledge in that area, hope that helps.
