1st time bulking (for real)

i dieted myself down to a six pack and look damn good. however, i need to fill out my chest a little bit. i understand that its best to bulk when you reach that point (visible abs) as compared to belly fat, in order to diminish extra fat gain. i train hard and shouldnt really add too much fat during this bulk, but im wondering if theres any time when i should stop??
is there a point i should worry about reaching? like bf% above 15 or something like that? im looking for advice based on results you guys experienced, i dont much care for the science cause im always reading that.
also, im about 12% bf right now, with abs, so considering that, science aint always right anyway.
i guess my question is, based on you guys' experience, where do you stop your bulk? i guess i dont want to impair myself by getting to a size that i cant maintain correctly. maybe this is one of those things that i type and then post and then realize that i answered my own question.....
whatever..... ha.

I usually stop at 13%. Go get your bf tested. 'About' doesn't sound certain to me. If you are really at 12% I would cut to the single digits 7 or 8% then go up to 12 or 13%.

i guess i got a little ahead of myself...

i saw abs and had a fit. ill go back to being hungry and get to 7%. thats my goal. thanks guys!

Id agree with ibanez on this one, getting close to 15% myself with still another 2 months of my bulk.

i got down to about 12% on my last cut (ran outta time cos it was for a holiday) but i dropped from 16%, now im back to bulking i think im around 15% right now but i still wana add a little more mass so im gna keep doin wat am doin for a while longer, i still do a little CV exercise so i shud be alrite, but anyways my answer for ur question is i bulk upto 16%

Based on my personal experience with bulking I feel that it is important to find the point (body fat %) where your body usually makes more gains….some people can stay very lean and make good gains other don’t. usually for me is about 8-10% bf (calipers method) It’s the point when my body feels comfortable….no too lean to be in some kind of starvation mode and weak and not to fat that all the food will be used to store more fat but strong. Once I get there I try to maintain that bodyfat level but increasing my lean mass slowly by doing the bulk (2-3 months) and cut cycles (3-4 weeks). Usually during my bulk I gain some fat maybe 1-2% that I lose when I cut. Also something important that I have noticed is that cardio is really important when bulking..why because it help me to keep my belly in check during the whole bulking cycle. Normally 2 high intensity cardio sessions per week will keep my bodyfat in control during bulking. Last year I bulked without cardio and the difference in my body composition and how lean I have been able to stay is significant.
