Im probably going to scare some people here with knowledge of guns and ammo.

But here goes.... Im pretty sure that most of those guns were shooting .223 or 5.56 mm ammo which is one of the standard US military rounds. Some may have been shooting .308 as well.

1000 rounds of .223 is around $200 --surplus Full Metal Jacket Ammo
1000 rounds of .308 is around $250 or so---surplus Full Metal Jacket Ammo

I think that at one point they may have been firing a SAW(not sure though)....which has the potential to fire around 725 rounds per minute.

So......pretty gosh darn expensive to fire all that ammo!!!!!!!!
Maybe someone who has been in the military could verify.
