Crazy story. He must have thrown that log pretty damn hard to kill a bear instantly.

This is nuts. The accuracy to his the bear in the head and the speed that he must have thrown the log prove the powers of adrenaline.

I still dunno about this story sounds kinda fishy. I was just camping this weekend, we were dirt biking threw slash and came burning up the road were we had parked the truck, came around the corner and there was 2 bears sitting on rd about 15 ft away from us. I think we all stood there shocked for a second before we turned around I hoped to god I didnt stall my bike and booked it. There were proabaly more scared of us then us of them. This story flashed threw my head. Now these bears were about 2-3, probably around 300 pounds, black bears. Same as the one he killed. There are so furry it has to stop some of the impact. and you would have to be standing basically over top of the bear and slam it with the butt end of a good 5-6 inch diameter peice off wood I dunno were mabey behind the ear or..I dunno lucky ****en shot and small bear. How come it dosnt say what kind of injures the kid sustained..?

I think it depends on what kind of bear you encounter there will always be more aggressive animals than others. You might of encountered some nice ones.

very lucky shot to throw a log and hit a bear in a soft enough spot to kill it. Wonder if they got to take it home and eat it?

a stranger will protect people around him. Weve had a few bear attacks where stranger have jumped into help. You dont need to be a dad or a marine to be a hero, everyday people are just as much.
